  German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has arrived Nigeria to discuss issues of mutual interest with President Buhari in a meeting where a number of Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the German-African Business Association and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).   The Police Command in Enugu State has commenced investigation into an incident that led to a 24-year old man committing suicide after an overdose of marijuana. The spokesman of the command, SP. Ebere Amaraizu, made the announcement in in Enugu today. He said the incident happened on Aug. 22 at Ameke Village in Enu-Oduma Community in the Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. Amaraizu identified the dead man as Ebube Chukwu. He said that Chukwu was reported to have committed suicide after taking his usual and hourly wraps of marijuana, popularly called ‘Igbo’. “It was gathered that the victim had allegedly committed the act by hanging himself on top of a tree inside a forest at Obokolo, which is between Amorji and Ameke Oduma. “It was further gathered that the victim was always in the habit of smoking marijuana, which may have caused the unfortunate incident.’’ Amaraizu said that investigation had commenced with a view to ascertaining the actual cause

The Edo state police command have apprehended a 23-year-old mother of two, Miracle Johnson, for selling her six-weeks-old baby and using proceeds from the transaction to buy herself a phone. According to a report by Punch , Miracle who hails from Agenebode in Etsako East local government area of the state, sold her baby, Greatness, to an orphanage in Onitsha, Anambra State, for N200,000. Miracle said she was pushed to sell her baby because of financial hardship being experienced by herself and her husband. In her own words, “My baby was born on July 2. I sold her due to frustration. My husband was just struggling (to provide for us). My friend (Mama Joy) said that since my husband was not taking care of me, if I did it (sold the baby), I could give the money to my husband to start a business or buy a motorcycle. An alleged notorious cultist and killer identified as Chijioke Ogbonna, popularly known as Ogbotiti, has been arrested by officials of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Imo State. According to a report by PUNCH Metro, while being paraded by the police last Saturday, Ogbotiti, told reporters that he had killed three persons since he was initiated into the Black Axe confraternity in 2014. According to multiple reports, a student of Osun state Polytechnic, Iree was allegedly shot dead by a trigger-happy SARS officer in osun state. The deceased, identified as Babatunde Nafiu was reportedly shot dead at about 9pm on Thursday evening in Iwo town, Osun state. An eyewitness claims that they were looking for a bike man around Ajangbala, area in Iwo town, on their way home, before the SARS officer allegedly attacked them and shot Babatunde. An Akure High Court in Ondo State on Thursday, sentenced seven people to death for the death of a United States of America-based businessman, Banji Adafin. The court also sentenced a woman to one year imprisonment for conspiracy, aiding and abetting on the same crime. Adafin was killed while on holiday in Akure, on July 4th, 2017, at No 5 Temidire street, Akure. The convicts were said to have conspired to commit armed robbery, and in the process killed Adafin in the presence of his wife and child. After killing the Adafin, the accused also stole valuable items in his resident. The items stolen included i-pad, phones, television sets, laptops and a large amount of money. Justice Ademola Bola gave the judgment after a year legal tussle on the killing of Adafin, who was said to be the bread winner of his family.
