I am worried about senate’s rush to approve loans – Ndume

  Chairman of Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume has expressed worry over the senate's rush to approve loans.    Ndume revealed his stance on loans obtained by the country on Thursday September 16, just after a fresh request was made by President Buhari for statutory approval of external loans in the total sum of $4,054,476,863.00, plus Euro €710m and Grant Component of $125m. Admitting there is no wrong in borrowing, Ndume however noted that their failure to critically look at requests from the presidency, justifies claims of them running a “rubber-stamp” National Assembly.   He said;    “What is the borrowing for and what are the terms? “Borrowing is not a crime but when the rate of debt services increases which I understand is getting to 80 per cent to 90 per cent, you have to be cautious, you have to look for an alternative. The mother of four recently had the ‘Adaobi’ crooner on her cooking show, Mercy’s Menu and the duo joyfully sang Di’ja’s hit song, ‘Aww’. Sharing the video which captured the moment she proved she can be a sonorous singer asides acting, Mercy Johnson joked about venturing into music. “Launching my music career,     cooking and chatting with my darling @aphrodija on this episode of @mercys_menu. Manchester City defender Nathan Ake reveals his father died moments after he scored his first Champions League goal

  Netherlands and Manchester City defender, Nathan Ake has revealed he suffered a devastating personal loss after he scored his first Champions League goal on Wednesday night, September 15.   According to Ake, his father died moments after he scored, following a battle with cancer. Ake was named in Manchester City's starting line up for City's first Champions League group stage fixture of the 2021-22 campaign against RB Leipzig. He quickly scored the opening goal after just 16 minutes as the match ended 6-3.   But after the match he was told but that his father Moise Ake had passed away.   Taking to social media, Ake said he has joy that at least his father (pictured bottom left) watched his historic goal feat before his death.   "I know you're always with me, you will always be in my heart and this one was for you, dad," The 26-year-old wrote on Instagram.   "The past few weeks have been the toughest of my life, my dad has been very ill and there was no more

1.6 million Nigerians have been fully vaccinated - FG

  The federal government has revealed that over a million Nigerians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   Executive-Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib made the announcement during the national briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC), on Monday September 13. Shuaib said that while 1,692,315 persons have received two doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines as approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), as at Monday evening September 13, 4,052,756 eligible Nigerians have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines.   He said;    “This is made up of 2,645,020 persons with the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine and 1,407,736 persons with first dose of Moderna vaccine. A total of 1,692,315 eligible persons are fully vaccinated and we currently have a national average of 70.4 per cent utilisation of the 2,000,040 doses of modern vaccines we received."   The NPHCDA Chairman who revealed that states

Naira now trading at 545/$ in parallel market

  The Nigerian Naira has hit an all time low in 48 years after trading for 545/$ in parallel markets on Thursday September 9.    Confirming the development, parallel market and bureau de change (BDC) traders disclosed that the Naira is falling rapidly against the greenback.  British pound on the other hand, was trading at N740 across the same markets. This is coming after the Central Bank of Nigeria announced it would no longer sell forex to BDC traders.   It was reported earlier that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is working with the CBN to rein in on banks who are found selling forex for unauthorised reasons.   See some comments on the development below...
